Advocacy North East and your community need you!!
Do you have time on your hands?
Looking for something worthwhile?
Looking to share existing skills and brush up on new ones or just looking for a different direction?
Or looking to add more experience to your CV?
Advocacy could be the answer you are looking for……..
…let us help you to help others who are struggling to understand their options or have their voice heard in matters relating to their health and social care.
All advocates first complete our five-module training course which covers aspects such as self-awareness, communication, diversity and equality and negotiation skills. This is followed by Adult Protection and Child Protection training so you have the best start…..
….once you start you will receive one to one support from our Training and Volunteer Co-ordinator and team members as well as regular practitioners’ and peer support meetings. Training continues thereafter with a blend of in-house and external opportunities so you can extend your knowledge and skills- what’s not to like….
…and just so you know, the majority of our volunteers stay with us for many years so we must be doing something right! We were awarded the Volunteer Friendly award in 2012 and have retained this year on year which is no mean achievement.
So if you would like to help us redress discrimination, social injustice and inequality then please get in touch with us and become a community advocate…. and if being a community advocate is not for you we have a range of other opportunities- so if you have a background in law, administration, business or have IT skills we would also love to hear from you.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer advocate, please contact us for more information or an informal chat.
You can find out when our next training course is running by visiting our events page.
