Volunteering in the third sector offers a number of benefits including the opportunity to work with a diverse group of people and the chance to make a real difference in your community.
If you are passionate about social justice, equal opportunities and supporting people who are, or who may be, marginalised or at risk of exclusion due to ill-health or disability then we have just the role for you!
Established for more than 25 years, Advocacy North East is a local, rights based, independent advocacy organisation serving local people in communities throughout Aberdeenshire and in the Royal Cornhill Hospital Aberdeen.
Independent advocacy is a way to help people have a stronger voice and to have as much control as possible over their own lives.
We are currently looking to recruit volunteer Community Advocates in all areas of Aberdeenshire. With your help we can reach and support people in our communities who need independent advocacy to understand their rights and access the information they need to make informed decisions in matters relating to their health and care.
We will provide training in Core Advocacy Skills so you will feel well informed, able and confident before you start. We will follow this up with a continuing programme of training and mentoring to support you to develop in your role. You will become a member of our well respected, effective and professional independent advocacy team.
If you like speaking with people but don’t think being an advocate is right for you then you might enjoy working with us in our friendly office. We are looking for someone who would like to spend a few hours each week supporting our essential front line service by answering phone calls, taking referrals and using basic computer skills to write these up.
Interested? Think you might want to join us? Give us a call on 01467 651604 or email admin@advocacyne.org.uk and our friendly admin staff will link you to the ANE Volunteer Co-ordinator who will be happy to have an informal, no-obligation chat and provide you with more information.

Volunteers week is a yearly event and a time to celebrate the contribution that volunteers make in their community. It is now in it’s 39th year and in a time of such great need within our communities it is amazing that these people share their time and their skills to help others.
The theme this year is ‘Celebrate and Inspire’ For those who already volunteer we salute you- you are an inspiration and for those who have never volunteered before you may well be inspired to make volunteering a part of your lives. It is incredibly rewarding and valuable work.
At ANE we have a wonderful team of community advocates who contribute so much to the lives of the people they work with. You do a simply amazing job and we can’t thank you enough. We also have volunteers who help at our office, making our lives easier with their unique skills and of course a dedicated team of board members who give their time, energy, commitment and skills to the safe and strategic running of our organization, some for more than ten years.
Through volunteering we develop stronger communities and now more than ever volunteers can support their communities in diverse ways, developing their own skills whilst generously giving their time to help others. So here’s to all volunteers and especially our own without whom we would be so much poorer.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
